Not everything was business, naturally. When Zerori wasn’t keeping an eye on contracts and potential ventures, she liked to enjoy her off time like everyone else. Such was the case when the mercenary was taking her time in one of the least renowned bakeries in East City, The Sweet Girl. It was a family business, ran by a rather… well, sweet girl, whom Zerori was currently finishing out her transaction with via flirting. When she was finished and she’d gotten her usual discount - a strawberry glazed jenny lindt, Zerori was on her way with a lady killer smile and a promise to return the next day. With her bag in hand, Zerori would casually walk down the street in the direction of some place she could just relax before starting work back up again.
That was the plan, at least, until the quickly approaching footsteps was followed by the bag in her hand being snatched up in the next second. Zerori watched, a shocked expression beneath her shades, as she watched a rather grizzled man run from her with the bag of her treats in hand before it finally dawned on her that… yeah, that really fucking happened.
“What in the actual fuck-?” She mumbled, only realizing he was quickly getting away with HER food the moment his form wasn’t visible anymore. Absolutely not! “Get BACK here!” She yelled, shocking and scaring the crowd that walked beside her before taking off in a dead sprint after him. In a group of low powers, however, he was just as invisible as a tree in a forest. With a grunt, Zerori was in the air and gliding above everyone as they gaped at her in concern; flight might not have been uncommon but it was usually an indication that something was going down and that assumption would hardly ever be wrong.
Finally catching sight of her little bag snatcher, Zerori didn’t hesitate to fly ahead and land with such force in front of him that it made visible cracks and impressions in the ground - knocking him on his ass. In front of a whole crowd of people that looked on, Zerori materialized her armor over her casual clothes for added effect and snarled at him from under her visor, “You made a BIG mistake, asshole. Now,” She held out her hand, taking satisfaction in his fear, “-Give. Me. My. Food.”

The unfortunate snack snatcher quivered on the ground his eyes wider than dinner plates. A dark spot spread across his crotch bladder control lost in the face of what he was sure must be his final end. He didn't want to die! Not like this! NOT OVER PASTERIES! The man rolled over and scrabbled away on his hands and knees desperately, shoving himself up to a hobbled and desperate escape. He shoved past people in attempt to futilely escape Zerori. It didn't work the first time, but surely it'll work this time, right??? The crowd parted to avoid the man as if he carried with him the plague, or at least the mark of death for crossing Zerori.
Except for one person. A woman with long dark hair, a flat expression and a thick red scarf.
Anastasia turned from the fleeing man to Zerori before raising her hand up, palm out. In a mock authoritative voice that just sounded dull and bored she said, "Excuse me ma'am. I have a few questions to ask you about a case. We have a suspicion there's a thief and public urinator in the area."
Ana's face may have been straight, but there was a slight twinkle in her eyes that you had to really look to see. Anastasia took a piece of receipt paper from her pocket and mimed writing in it (some of us weren't capable of conjuring prop notebooks from thin air, thank you very much), "Now word has it that the man was seen snatching a bag of food? Could you please described the stolen goods?"
Ana reached into her coat and pulled out a emblazoned with The Sweet Girl logo and held it up for Zerori's perusal, "Did it happen to look anything like this, ma'am?"
The thief had been so desperate to get away he had no idea that one of the people he had ran into had snatched it right from his hands. He probably wouldn't realize he no longer had his prize for several minutes, if at all. He would probably just be glad to have escaped with his life at this point. Maybe he'd think twice about stealing. Maybe not.
Ana couldn't keep up the game as long as Zerori could, and immediately just dropped the façade of authority... which really meant she put the receipt back in her pocket. Anastasia wasn't much of an actress.
"Fancy meeting up like this again..." Ana cocked her head, "Don't you think you're over acting? My guy stole my wallet, and I didn't make him fear for his life."

A look of disgust crossed Zerori’s features as she watched her snack snatcher literally wet himself before actually getting back to his feet to attempt escape again. If she had to be honest, she didn’t think he had the guts (or the motor functions) to attempt escape again but here they were in an apparent game of cat and mouse. Preparing to stomp after him, Zerori managed to get only a few dozen paces after him before a familiar face was in front of her with a hand pressed against the front of her armor. Out of surprise, Zerori’s one-track minded fixation of the man dissipated in seconds as she took in the authoritative voice, the amused look in her eye and…
Wow. So that’s what that feels like… I’m not gonna complain, Zerori’s aggressive posture, as well as the enraged expression, seemed to melt for a moment before she laughed softly, “Well, m’am, far be for me to ignore the law,” Zerori teasingly played along, even as she too could feel the faint energy of the man fade away into the crowd. The armored woman brought a hand up to chin, taking a moment to fake-think of what she had, “It was the sweetest thing, I recall. Frosting and glaze - honestly probably the best thing you’ll ever-”
She stopped suddenly, seeing Ana pull out the very bad that Zerori had seen the man take from her before her mouth dropped to gape at her. She looked been Ana’s face and the bad multiple times before she brought a hand up to her face to stifle her laughter, “You really are just full of surprises,” She cooed, gently taking the small treat bag back from Ana before she put away her receipt and dropped the act. Zerori's face scrunched up in a grimace before she responded, her tone light but dry, “Overreacting? Mhm, that proves it. You obviously haven’t tried Sweet Girl’s treats. Matter o’ fact,” Zerori looked around the crowd, taking some special satisfaction in the attention before she cocked her head at Ana and presented the bag, “Care to share with me? I promise, it’ll put to shame what we had last time at dinner!”
If Ana accepted, Zerori would gesture toward what looked like a conveniently placed city park before dematerializing her armor back into the familiar half-jacket/crop top combo she was so fond of. She doubted anyone would recognize her armor within the five minutes of her using it.

Ana enjoyed Zerori's slack jawed shock when she presented Zerori's food to her. The other woman was always so self-assured and confident, it made it fun to turn the tables on her a bit. Besides, snatching the bag back from the panicking idiot hadn't been too hard. Even if he hadn't been scared so senseless that he wasn't paying attention to his purloined goods, his average human speed was no match to Ana's super human reflexes. After catching bullets, grabbing the bag from him was like taking candy from a baby... a near perfect comparison since he had wet himself like one.
"Even if they are that good, you could have just bought another one," Ana pointed out with a shrug of her shoulders. To be fair, she didn't really care about food. After so many MREs food became just a source of fuel for her. But... she did enjoy the occasional sweet treat.
"Alright," she accepted Zerori's offer, and followed her towards the city park, hands in her pockets.
Ana cocked her head again when Zerori's armor disappeared and was replaced with her usual flashy outfit. The quick change was interesting... Being able to switch clothes on the fly could be useful. If someone caught you unawares you could protect yourself with armor with out needed to be lugging it around all the time. It seemed like it could be a great ability with a lot of utility.
"Handy trick. How did you do that?" Ana gestured towards all of Zerori, implying her quick change, "What else can you do?"
The park wasn't too crowded. There were a few people walking their pets, others jogging for their daily exercise, young lovers walking hand in hand, even just the occasional person who needed a break from the dull grays of the city to experience a little green nature. The usual crowd of suspects in a pleasant city park like this.
Ana led the way to a small picnic table under the shade of a large tree. There was a plaque built into the ground by the tree's roots thanking some one for donating to the park. Probably some rich person looking for a tax write off. But at least their tax write off paid for something in the community. Ana sat at the table and rested her arms across the top, gesturing to Zerori to take a seat as well.

Zerori laughed slightly at the suggestion of just buying another bag of treats, “I’d hate to make you jealous, but there’s more to buying this beauty than just eating it. You could say I have… rapport with the owner,” She’d leave it at that with only a wink to allude to what she was talking about. As they approached the park however, Zerori would look back at the mention of her ‘handy trick’ which was not very far off from what it actually was. She cocked her eyebrow at Anastasia with a knowing look before coyly returning, “You’re interested in my other talents, are you? Well, we HAVE had dinner so that part of dating is taken care of!” She laughed heartily at her joke, hoping it didn’t come off too awkward or serious before she would calm herself and follow Anastasia to the park bench before taking a seat.
Now came one of Zerori’s favorite activities - bless Anastasia’s poor soul - as she settled in with a grin and placed the bag of treats between them to share. “Go ahead and take a piece of it,” She encouraged before she went right in. “So I’ll start off simple. What I can do is… a magic trick. But it really is magic,” She leaned back, a cocky smirk on her face before she raised a hand and concentrated a little bit. Just like her armor, wisps of blue data would appear before an actual object took form in her hand.
A book; nothing too fancy or weird. Placing it down on the table, Zerori explained, “When I was young, my mother taught me that I had different powers than most. I knew it and my father knew it but no one really knew why or how… well, I suspected my mother did,” Zerori scoffed with a smile, waving her hand dismissively as if it were old news. “Anyway, I took that skill and I made something new with it. Turns out - if I can understand how to make it or even just how it works... I can use my magic to make it appear.”
Smug smiles and the proud twinkle in her eyes aside, Zerori was actually grateful to have someone to explain this to - her line of work and lack of interested people that didn’t feel intimidated by her made feeling any connection beyond annoyance… difficult.
There was more than could be explained but Zerori didn’t want to confuse her newest… friend. So, she decided to take her own bite of the jenny lindt and made a face of pure rapture before giving a chuckle, “So good! Always worth the trouble…”

Ana stared back at Zerori flatly when she joked about making Ana jealous and her insinuation about her relationship with the proprietor... she arched an eye brow and although her tone was even there was still a sense of tease to it, "I still don't see the problem. You can always engage in some additional... rapport."
Of course Ana tiny nudge of a joke was nothing compared to Zerori's outright attentions. When she joked about them dating, Ana just flicked her fingers in Zerori's face, letting loose the barest of ki sparks. The equivalent of flicking static shocks. It was harmless. In this instant, Ana was metaphorically spritzing a naughty cat with a spray bottle.
At Zerori's offer of the bag of sweet treats Ana carefully took a small piece, tearing it loose with her fingers, and nibbled on it. It wasn't that she was reluctant, or didn't want to partake. It was just polite and her careful nature. As Zerori spoke she would just occasionally take additional pieces bit by bit. She watched attentively as Zerori literally summoned a book out of thin air. Anastasia cleaned her fingers on her pant leg absent mindedly before reaching out for the book, stopping to look at Zerori for permission, before picking it up. Ana looked at the cover and flipped through the pages. She was curious to see if the book was blank, or if Zerori's abilities also created or copied text inside as well.
"What do you mean by 'understand how it works'?" Ana cocked her head curiously her mind turning over the possibilities of this ability and the utility of such a skill. Could she create food and water? Sustenance? How much did she need to understand something? Engineering? Elemental make up? How long did these things last? Ana had so many questions, but didn't want to throw them all out at once.
The biggest question, though, was could it be taught?

Zerori was starting to think her charms were actually working on Anastasia, even that little flick of energy was anything to go by. After she finished the first part of her explanation, Zerori had taken her own half of the treat and began to take generous bites of the confection as she listened to Anastasia’s questions. Well, question - something told the Saiyan woman that she was holding herself back for whatever reason. Maybe it was manners or a lack of knowing Zerori very well? She couldn’t care less but she’d take the opportunity to speak more on it while it was on the line! When she finished what was in her mouth, Zerori would actually look at the treat, get an idea and smile. “Actually, this is a perfect example,” She’d begin, more to herself than to her friend before she gestured to her piece. “I’ve gotten this pastry every week for… probably years,” Zerori shrugged, realizing that she’d been doing this song and dance with the owner for longer than she’d thought but not really giving a damn about it.
“I know what it tastes like and what it’s made of; it was a point of conversation out of curiosity. But... that doesn’t mean I know how to bake it, right?” She’d let Anastasia answer however she’d like before following up with, “-You’d think so but you’d be wrong. All the answers to what you can make and how it comes out,” She brought her other hand up to tap at her temple. “-are up here. With food, you just have to taste it and know how those tastes make what you eat. After that, it’s the magic that does all the work for you!”
Bringing her other hand down, she summons said magic and - in an instant - the same pastry is there. Intact and uneaten, even! “All I need to do is think of what I want, understand how it is the way it is, and then imagine the state I want it to be in. For more complicated things, it’s harder and sometimes what you make doesn’t come out right. Make sense?” She asked, still grinning even as she offered the treat to Anastasia if she wanted more. “Please, if you want to know more, don’t hold back. If it’s not obvious, I’m actually really into this kind of shit.”

Years, she had said? Zerori must extremely liked this treat if she hadn't gotten tired of it by now. It made her previous reaction to the theft a little more understandable, but it still seemed excessive to Ana. Even if it seemed to be her favorite confection Ana couldn't see why she couldn't just get another one. But then again, it was probably just the principal of the matter at this point.
Anastasia listened attentively to Zerori's explanation. She didn't respond to Zerori's question, Ana taking it for rhetorical, and waited for Zerori to continue her line of thought. When Zerori summoned an exact duplicate of the strawberry glazed jenny lindt, she had cemented Ana's opinion that she had over reacted to the theft. Kami, if she could just create it on a whim what even was the big deal? Anastasia mentally shook her head at the thought before returning her focus to the questions she had for Zerori.
"So you don't even need to know how to bake it? That seems like an important part of 'understanding' it. How long does it last? Indefinitely? If you consume it, does it still fill you up and feed you?" if it could actually feed you, and more people were able to use the ability, the struggled for rations and supplies for an army would be moot. An army marched on it's stomach and one that could just summon what it needed at will would have a ludicrous advantage against their enemies.
"What do you mean more complicated things?" Ana continued her line of questioning after Zerori encouraged her to do so, "Say some sort of machinery. A clock, versus a car. Actually, how large can you make something?? Just hand sized? How many things could you make?"
Anastasia hadn't realized just how curious she had been about Zerori's magical ability. This was the most that Anastasia had ever asked her. An usually spoke in short sentences if she spoke at all. When Zerori had offered to share her story in the past Ana had declined. Now she was asking multiple questions back to back. The piece of jenny lindt that Ana had been eating momentarily forgotten in her hand in the face of her curiosity.
If Zerori had any doubts about Anastasia's interest, they would probably be gone now. But Anastasia's interest in Zerori wasn't the same as Zerori's interest in her. If anything Ana was oblivious to it. She thought of Zerori's attentions as harmless teasing and banter that the woman would use on anyone. She had admitted outright to her... what was the word she had used? Rapport. She had admitted outright to her rapport with the baker of the very treat they were eating now, after all.

“I mean, if you know that it needs to be baked, do you really need to ‘how’ to bake it?” Zerori asked with a slight laugh. “You put it in an oven and you know that, after a certain amount of time, it’ll be baked. It wouldn’t be magic if it had to take time,” Though even as she said this, Zerori was mostly operating off of personal experience and not… well, any sort of knowledge gained from a book. She could have been doing it wrong this whole time - after all, she only had the teachings of her mother as a child to go off of and the rest was her own explorations. Thankfully, she didn’t really need to explain the idea of baking any further because the other questions were a LOT easier to answer.
She tried to tackle them in the order and speed they came in, “Forever. If you want it to go away, that’s another skill entirely. As for filling you up… Eh,” Zerori actually had to grimace a little. “Not me. No. That’s subjective, though. I eat a LOT and using magic takes up energy,” She brought a hand to her chin, leaning back and using her knee on the underside of the table to keep balanced as she teetered back, “It would be… easier for me to use magic to feed you then it would be to feed myself. That said, you’d have to expend nearly ALL of your energy to feed me. As well, people that are capable of sustaining themselves on less food more often than others could use magic to sustain themselves for a while…”
Nearly lost in thought as she was theorizing the possible uses for other people beyond herself, Zerori nearly forgot she had company before she blinked and looked back at Anastasia. With a scoff, Zerori shook her head, “Sorry. You ask good questions. On that subject, however, trying to recreate bigger things follows the same rules,” She shrugged, leaning forward and giving a giddy little smile as she raised her hands to make a small toy car. “This is easy; wood, shape the way I want with bits of metal. Not difficult. If I want it to be able to move on it’s own, however, I need to know how that can be accomplished. Uhm…” She floundered with her hands in the air for a moment as she came up with an idea and blurted it out, “BATTERIES! That’s a simple thing to understand about what makes things move, but.” She gestured, “I need to know what batteries I need, right? You go to the store and you have to get the right one? You like certain brands, too, I bet,” She laughed, taking her example a little farther. “Make sense? As for what else I can make and how big… Well, I’m gonna keep that to myself.”
No need to give away all of her secrets.
By this point, Zerori had gotten a little thirsty and - with the last of her magic for the moment - she materialized a beer and began to drink it. As a bonus, however, after she’d taken a sizable drought, she’d toss an extra tidbit of information out there, “Did I mention that it doesn’t have to be made into existence. If you want to bring something that exists from some place else to where you are? That’s possible, too. But nearly impossible without help.”

"Hmm..." Ana cocked her head thoughtfully at Zerori's explanation on whether or not you needed to bake something for you to know it. It changed how she looked at the ability. Would you just need to understand the concept of how things operated? A flash like illuminated because of electricity and a bulb. A car ran on fuel being burned in an engine that made the wheels turn and propel the car forward. You needed less specific knowledge than Ana had initially thought.
She brought her thoughts back to the present and Zerori's next part of the explanations. Indefinite existence. Whatever she created was created essentially. It was less a summoning than a more a manifestation if Ana understood her correctly. That made the ability even more amazing. You could create weapons then give them to a soldier and they would be supplied with out having to worry about their equipment disappearing mid combat. You could, theoretically, create a building if you did it piece meal enough to conserve your energy, doing a little bit every day.
Which meant the food Zerori could create would sustain a person. Her explanation of how she consumed more food than she could eat made sense. That meant that, once again theoretically, if some one were strong enough they could feed multiple people. You'd be able to supply a team with rations if the creator was strong enough. That would make the team self-sustaining essentially. Obviously not a team of saiyans, unless you were extremely powerful. But feeding a saiyan was a difficult endeavor with or without magic. Her corp had a few saiyans on duty, but feeding them had always been a difficult trial for logistics. They needed five times the rations of other soldiers, and if you can't provide that, they would just take the food regardless. Anastasia had needed to fight for her food on more than one occasion...
When Zerori said that she wasn't going to tell Ana the limits of her abilities, Ana merely nodded her head, as if to say, 'That's fair.' It made sense to keep your limits close to the chest. Knowledge was power, and if a person knew Zerori's limits that made it easier to make a plan for how to make her expend her resources and tire her out.
Ana perked up at the additional bone that Zerori threw to her, "You mean like teleporting or summoning? Would that be easier to do than creating? Cost less energy? How far away could something be? Would you need to see the item to do so, or just know it's location? How exactly? If you were in one room, and you wanted to summon something from another room. Would you need to see it? Or know whether or not it was on a table? Or just knowing that specific item is in that specific room?"
If the summoning was easier than creating, that made it even more possible to support your corp with supplies. You could pull the equipment from a storage location, depending on energy constraints. Ana couldn't help but frame all her thoughts and questions from a military point of view. You could take the soldier out of the war, but you could never take the war out of the soldier. And so all her thoughts, ideas, and questions followed along the logistics of warfare.

Taking another sip of her drink, the curl at the corner of her lips could be seen before she placed it back down. “Teleporting is technically what I have in mind but, given the intricacies, summoning works too!” It’s not that she was hesitant and worried about telling Anastasia, but the idea she had in mind required RIGOROUS testing and without the funding needed to even get through the beta tests she needed - there was very little she could tell her that wouldn’t sound less like fact and more like a fever dream. “It’s not easier or more difficult,” Zerori elaborated, shaking her head and taking another piece from the second treat. “One just relies on technology to access the item wherever it’s stored. You can either summon it by giving it some sort of, uh… beacon and use a recall system or - more intricate still - break it down and use a system that puts it back together.”
Oh yeah. It definitely sounded like a fever dream. What Zerori could do with magic was leagues more complicated than what could be done with technology. “It would cost a LOT less energy, however. It’s the difference between cutting meat yourself and putting it through a machine to have it cut it for you. You’ve gotta program it and study the physics and it’s…” Zerori laughed, already feeling like she was overwhelming herself just thinking about it. “-It’s a lot. The most ambitious concept I’ve ever come up with. You’d never need to see the item as you recall it BUT you do have to know what it is you want to recall. Can’t recall something you don’t know what you’re looking for, right?” She gestured with both hands toward the partially eaten second jenny lindt “-You don’t need to know anything else except the item.”
The questions, however, were never unwelcomed though. In spite of the frustration Zerori had admitted to the issues she had, the sheer excitement she felt just talking about it with someone else that was just as intrigued by the uses and utility of the idea was thrilling! “You’ve got the mind of a general, Anastasia. HAH! I bet you could do some scary things with this kind of tech if you were still in the military, yeah?” Picking up the last bit of the treat, Zerori popped it in her mouth before chewing - looking fondly upon the woman as she imagined that there could be more there if she could just convince the woman across from her.
Anastasia was more than just someone who was capable of surviving an experience that would render most people inoperable - she thrived in a situation that required seeing beyond the simple answers and that… was an opportunity.

Anastasia was sweetened out. She gestured for Zerori to take the last of the jenny lindt. Afterward Ana leaned forward and folded her arms over the table top while her mind turned over the possibilities of what Zerori was saying. So she was talking about technology and not her magic ability. Ana hadn't expected that. That was an entirely different skill set, and one she hadn't expected Zerori to dabble in. Once again, she surprised her. Ana knew that Zerori wasn't stupid, far from it. But she hadn't expected the woman to be clever in terms of technology as well. Ana's experience and knowledge did not extend into the realm of what Zerori was describing. Ana could grasp the applications of such things, but had no idea on how one would go about making it happen.
Ana was still struggling to understand certain pieces of what Zerori was telling her, but the metaphor of butchering meat versus using a machine made sense and helped click things more in place for Ana's mindset. In this way you'd have two different options for getting resources, the magic of creation and the technology of transporting it. This doubled the amount of resources you could work with since they wouldn't be limited by the same energy source, theoretical. A person could create items until they ran out of energy. Meanwhile the machine could teleport more items until it too ran out of energy, rather than one person with magic teleporting AND creating. Hmm... interesting. Teleporting required the item to exist already. But it would allow other creators to make items in safety that could then be teleported to the field, rather than requiring a creator to be in the actual field. Depending on if Zerori's machine needed a creator to operate it or not.
Ana broke out of her thoughts when Zerori proclaimed that she had the mind of a general. Anastasia shook her head and waved off the sentiment, "I was just a foot soldier. I never climbed the chain of command. I'm not a leader."
It took more than strategic thinking to be a general. It required a charisma that would inspire others to follow. It required a level of tact to connect and work with multiple people in some form of synergy. Both were skills Anastasia sorely lacked. She was too blunt, and did not have the best grasp of social niceties at times. She also didn't know how she felt about leading others, it had never been a situation she had to confront before. It didn't seem like a particularly unpleasant scenario, but nor was it attractive. Some people craved power, but it seemed that didn't apply to Anastasia. No, she was most comfortable under command.
"So this is something you're actually trying to build?" Ana asked with a tilt to her head, "You don't strike me as an engineer. I wasn't expecting that."
Warrior. Entrepreneur. Scientist/Engineer. Casanova. Charlatan.
Zerori was a woman of many talents.

Was that modesty Zerori was witnessing or did she really believe that she didn’t have it in her to be a leader? The very concept had Zerori blink a little in confusion before she thought about it for a moment. The way Anastasia made it sound was that she merely didn’t have the chance to do so, as opposed to saying she simply couldn’t. Perhaps it was simply not a desire of hers, but with a soft ‘hm’, Zerori would drop the subject with a few short sentences thrown out to the ether in the hopes that maybe it might catch on, “Maybe not right now. Maybe not a General… You could, though, if you want it bad enough,” Prying into Anastasia’s life to understand her was tempting just simply from Zerori being curious but she didn’t want to focus on the result of a stray comment she made.
The comment that SHE made, however, had Zerori bring a hand up to scratch the back of her head in what would appear to be humility, “It is, but… tch, it’s a bit too difficult to do solo, even for me,” If this were her right out of school. The Zerori right after she’d arrived on Earth so many years ago, Zerori would have never believed in the concept that she couldn’t do ANYTHING on her own. Now, however, she was smart - well, smartER - and she could admit without a hit to her pride that evolutionary things like this took time, effort and a unified desire with people that believed in the same idea that she did.
“If you’d asked me if I was going to be a geek years ago, I’d have tried to beat you,” She laughed, “-After basically being forced to come here by my Dad, I had to make a choice. Tell him ‘fuck you’ and just live out in the woods like some of my people do… Or take the opportunity that was there and scratch out more than just an existence. If it weren’t Capsule Corp’s constant visits and science collaborations with the school I went to, I probably wouldn’t be the same woman you see,” Another wink, taking the pastry that Anastasia was finished with and eating the rest of it. “School wasn’t so bad, I guess. Just shitty people mixed in with not-so-shitty people,” She finished, voice slightly muffled as she chewed. “Learning experience, y’know?”
With a smile, Zerori waited to see if Anastasia had any more questions before the sound of something chiming caught her attention. Reaching down, she’d eye the name that scrolled along the pager she’d had and cocked an eyebrow before sighing through her nose. She swallowed, licking her lips with an annoyed growl, “Breaks over, I guess…” It was work, of course. With a disappointed smile, Zerori gestured with her head to the woman across from her, "Got a phone or something? Gotta jet but I'd hate to have to leave seeing you again up to fate - if even it's been on my side so far," She winked, back in her element.

"Hm," Ana murmured softly in acknowledgement of Zerori's comment about her being a general. Whether she did or didn't have the capability to be a general was a moot point. She was no longer in the army. She was now a solo operative, under no one faction. So even if she wanted to lead, she had no one to command.
Putting that aside she cocked her head at Zerori's sharing of her past. It seemed the woman kept dropping little tidbits here and there for Ana. Crumbs. A bread trail through the forest of conversation. Ana couldn't help but reciprocate. If only just a little...
"I never went to a public or private school," Anastasia shrugged, "I studied in the army's private institution, with the other cadets. I imagine some things are still the same regardless. The cliques. The drama. Etcetera."
Ana could see Zerori waiting expectantly for follow up questions, but truth told, while Ana had, had many questions about her magical ability, she didn't have the same amount of questions for her teleportation machine. Machinery was not Ana's expertise. While she could theorize and ponder about a technique, a machine was another thing entirely. She shook her head to Zerori, confirming that she didn't have questions for her at the moment.
Conveniently timed, Zerori's cellphone chimed for her attention and she examined it. Looked like their time was over. Ana pushed herself to her feet but paused when Zerori asked if she had a cellphone. Who didn't in this day and age? They seemed so integral to everyday life, beyond even just the original function of a telephone. Ana slipped her phone from the inner-breast pocket of her jacket and held it up for Zerori to see. But she paused when Zerori mentioned meeting up again.
Did she really want to give Zerori her contact information? The woman's attentions were obvious and while Ana didn't think she would go so far as to harass her, she wasn't sure. But then again, it wasn't like she hadn't enjoyed their limited time together. The bumpy way they had met aside, they had, had pleasant enough conversations. Ana didn't have many friends. Mostly training partners and acquaintances. Regardless of her romantic attentions, Zerori still would be a good friend.
Why not?
If Zerori did become a pain, or a nut job, she could always just change her phone number.Ana unlocked her phone with a fingerprint, and then pulled up her phone number. She wordlessly held the screen out for Zerori to see the numbers easily enough. Wordless consent for Zerori to have her contact information.

With an intrigued smile, Zerori had taken in the extra information Anastasia had offered - likely in reciprocation to her own brief backstory - and noted with interest that she’d been educated while IN the military. Schooling on Vegeta was different than on Earth but some of the principles remained between the both of them. That said.. Zerori was curious if she’d been able to join the military at a young age or if there was a reason it was the only education she had. One thing was for certain; Anastasia gave no indication that she was less educated than anyone else and Zerori could admire that even if she did so silently.
Zerori waited, leaving the ball in Anastasia’s court on whether or not they’d ever meet again purposefully. She wanted to meet with her again, even if she was fairly certain the woman across from her did not exactly seem interested in her the way she might have been. That didn’t bother the hybrid as much as possibly not being able to enjoy the banter they’d had today; as if they were merely old friends coming to see each other after years of living their own lives. When she’d pulled out her phone and presented it to her, Zerori’s smile widened before she pulled out her own phone and jotted the number down. Cheekily, as was her nature, Zerori sent a text in the form of a butt-cheek emoji with the caption, ‘The asshole that stopped you that day’ and knew Anastasia would be able to know exactly who it was that texted her.
With that, Zerori would stand from the bench and give a long stretch - already she could see the darkening hues of orange, red and yellow in the west and could mentally count down how long the daylight would last before she’d need to get ready. It never seemed to feel like she had enough time. “Well! ‘Til next time, Sugar. I’ll text you when I have the rest of your, uh… several hundred zeni,” She chuckled, still a little uncertain how she’d do it but getting to her job was the best first step to doing it.
With a wave, Zerori bid Anastasia a good night before she pulled the shades from her jacket and put them on - expression changing from one of the biggest smiles she’d had in a while… back to a serious frown.
